CHAPTER HISTORY

The Epsilon Tau Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was chartered in 1965 by a group of eleven dynamic New York City collegiate women. These young students, who truly had something to offer, dreamed of supporting the programs they often heard so much about.

The Chapter is city-wide encompassing the majority of four year colleges in Manhattan and the Bronx (with the exception of Columbia University whose chapter is campus-based). Epsilon Tau implements Delta Sigma Theta’s Five-Point programmatic thrust through programs including, but not limited to: the Delta G.E.M.S, the chapter’s “Project Cherish”; Sister’s Uptown Bookstore, the chapter’s “Adopt-A-Black Business” project; and various seminars and workshops.

The members of the Epsilon Tau Chapter pride themselves in ennobling the high ideals and standards of Delta Sigma Theta. This is perhaps one of the reasons why many have chose not only traditional but also non-traditional careers in medicine, law, journalism, acting, and accounting and computer technology. A true Delta will always live up to the ideals of sisterhood, scholarship and service.
